In our final musical postcard, Artistic Director Libby Burgess is joined by tenor Alessandro Fisher in a performance of Schubert’s beautiful An die Musik. Alessandro captivated our audiences when he performed for us in Beverley last autumn.

Schubert’s song is a celebration of music, and Beverley has been a centre of music for centuries: the Northern Guild of Musicians was headquartered here; the first ever festival celebrating composer G F Handel was here; its churches are filled with carvings of musicians; and today people flock from across the country to festivals of folk, early music… and of course New Paths!

Watch Seasons 1 and 2

All our musical postcards from Beverley are still available to watch online. These short films celebrate the place which has inspired the festival and its artists from day one: the town of Beverley in the East Riding of Yorkshire. Curated by Libby Burgess, they are a true meeting of music and place.

We love how the Postcards team have captured our artists’ sound and the beauty of Beverley Minster (Season 1) and St Mary’s Church (Season 2). Huge thanks to the teams at those churches for making us so welcome, and to our creative team Dave Rowell (audio engineer)Jessie Rodger (director/camera) and Matthew Bennett (audio producer):
