Bach: Suite for solo cello in C minor

Our second late-night Bach concert takes place in the serene Roman Catholic Church of St John of Beverley. Cellist Cara Berridge has been a much-loved feature of New Paths since the beginning, and here she performs Bach’s solemn, reflective solo suite in C minor.

The scordatura effect of retuning one string a tone lower adds to the dark colour of this music – and yet, as always with Bach, the music never fails to dance.
